Crete-Palace of Knossos-Greece

Text: Minoic columns consisted of a stone basis, but the rest was polychrome cypress wood, abundant in the island. None of the original columns has survived. Evans rebuilt them with cement (a sacrilege for his detractors).

Text: Throne hall.This small hall, used by the King as High Priest for religious rituals, has red stucco walls with drawings of stylized vegetable motifs, “grifos” (fabulous animals).
