This place it was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The town is dominated by the Palácio Nacional da Vila, the summer home of the royal family since the 15th Century, the Palácio da Pena, a 19th Century recreation of different styles & the Castelo dos Mouros, fort of 8th Century.

Braga's Sé cathedral was begun in the 12th century, making it the oldest in Portugal. The cathedral was built by Dom Henrique and his wife (Dona Teresa) in the place were the Muslins, four centuries before, destroyed the original church of Santa Maria.
